Two

Talking of strangeness – of course, that’s what attracts us – be it personal or biz relations and maybe that’s what makes living in 2 different surroundings so worthwile: You never really get used to one. When the critical point of too much familiarity or much simpler monotony, especially in the working sphere, is reached there’s time for the regular caesura: just hop on the plane …
Next week, at least after the weekend(at which I’m doing just as suggested above ;-)there might be a good time to start to come to grips with the real intention of this blog.

One

Being two persons is a marvellous thing. Changing your habitat, your language (although only marginal, but still, maybe there is more to that Sapir-Whorf hypothesis than we had assumed ? ;-)) your customs, your daily routine, your outfit, has profound impact on your ideas and on the way they flow or arrange themselves. Dressed in my “business” outfit I’m highly effective, short-term-goal-oriented, no-nonsensical. Dressed in that fancy mix that goes for non-business clothing I`m highly lucid, slow, non-effective as regards immediate output, but open for all kinds of surprises. Maybe that’s why I am so often approached and addressed by eccentric or strange people.

Zero

The good thing about living in 2 different places: I’m a different person anytime I cross the border and I do not mean the border between the countries. There is a point where the surroundings and ideas that are closely connected to place number 1 seem to dissolve and vanish. At the same time, images, associations to place number 2 emerge vividly, almost overwhelmingly, and I always imagine my brain as having some deep-freezing compartment to allow for this change-over.

Having decided to start with Muenster, here's some info: Middle-sized university town in Northern Germany, said to have the largest bicycle-community and the most churches in Germany and probably in Europe - with a charming medieval touch.

Below Zero

I think, after such a long time, I should really give this blogging operation a second try.
It’s a little bit awkward to write in a language that is not my mother tongue, but it seems manageable.

Maybe I should start with assembling a few pieces of information on my 2 places of location, Vienna in Austria and Munster in Germany – about 1000 kilometres apart?

Let’s see which one I’m going to start with tomorrow.
