I miss blogging, and the communication here but at the moment I'm experiencing "the loneliness of a middle distance runner" (quote: Belle & Sebastian: Push barman to open old wounds).

By the way, the Belle and Seb quote is an intertextual reference to the Alan Sillitoe novel of the early 60s, the Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner - but you knew that.
Hi Rob, I must have known that in my subconscious, but now that you've reminded me I realize why the B&S song always sounded so familiar.
I had to meet a deadline (how do you cope with such things? I'm bad because all of my life is affected by this specific task till I can press the button "send")and tomorrow there's a big family meeting in some tiny village in the Alps. Where are those quiet weekends?
Deadlines - i don't think I'm the right person to ask...
I do like Duke Ellington's quote though:

Aber mal andersrum: Warum soll eigentlich ein Middle-distance- runner einsam sein? Muss dem mal nachgehen...
Nun ja, im Prozess des Laufens, oder Schreibens oder Beschäftigtseins mit einer (heraus-)fordernden Aufgabe, gibt es schon Momente, in denen man sich "lonely" fühlt. Aber es ist glücklicherweise eben nur eine zeitbegrenzte, eben eine middle-distance-loneliness, weil sie anschließend wieder aufgehoben wird, und weil es Menschen gibt, die darauf aufpassen, dass man nicht wirklich "lonely" ist.
