Vocal cords made of tweed
Stephen Fry, the actor who is so very British, that he has vocal cords made of tweed (his own quote) thinks that the Americans confuse British accents for talent.

Hollywood has always been a sucker for the English accent. But Fry, of course, whose biggest success is as the quintessentially English Jeeves, is now in competition with his Wooster (Hugh Laurie) in American hospital dramas - House and Bones. Oddly, Laurie has a perfect American accent in House. I haven't seen Bones yet.
I haven't seen either (House-Bones), the only English language channels I can get over here are CNN and BBC Prime. Would it be worth to purchase the DVDs?
Well, as I say, I've not seen Bones. laurie is extraordinary in House, and i think from an English perspective it's just very strange to see someone who has mostly played empty-headed upper-class twits as this hard-bitten, drug-addicted American doctor. It is pretty good. can't report on recent episodes as we no longer have a TV. But Hugh isn't happy in the US apparently. See this
