Devouring Time ...

Cambridge, UK: On Friday, Stephen Hawking unveiled the "Time Eater", a clock, designed by John Taylor, a British horologist. Taylor created the clock as a tribute to the British inventor John Harrison who solved the problem of longitude in the 18th century.

The clock has no hands and features a giant grasshopper. It has 60 slits cut into its face which light up to show the time. Taylor said he "wanted to depict that time is a destroyer. As a consequence, he decided "to turn the clock inside out... so you can see the seconds being eaten up".

On the video, the features of the clock are explained in detail.
