It really happened! Counterfeiters (see post below) got the Oscar for best foreign film!
In his acceptance speech director Stefan Ruzowitzky said:
"..There have been some great Austrian filmmakers working here, thinking of Billy Wilder, Fred Zinnemann, Otto Preminger, most of them had to leave my country because of the Nazis, so it sort of makes sense that the first Austrian movie to win an Oscar is about the Nazis' crimes....!"

Excellent - I've got to see that film!
Yeah! I've only seen the first twenty minutes and the trailers - because I'm watching it with my students, in parts .. we should be ready by the 12 March, because they have German only once a week, for 50 minutes!
