The Large Hadron Rap

Kate McAlpine raps about the Large Hadron Collider, the groundbreaking particle accelerator that has been built in a 17-mile circular tunnel at the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland, and which goes into operation today.

And perhaps we wouldn't even be here without the CERN! In 1999, Tim Berners-Lee implemented the first successful communication between an HTTP client and server via the Internet with the help of Robert Cailliau and a young student staff at CERN.

Good luck to the CERN scientists!

Below, there's a short video which explains CERN in three minutes:

You are so great! I just read about this rap video in the paper yesterday morning and I forgot to cut out the article. Thank you for posting it! I'll be back later to watch the other video.
Great idea to blog about this, Francessa, and to wish the scientists best of luck!

Sheer Genius - whoever was behind this deserves an award. Had me smiling the whole way through.

Why wasn't science this interesting at school? If only they'd thought of this in Geography...or maybe they couldn't find a rhyme for Teutonic Plates??

Fantastic - thanks for making my day more fun

Lydia and don't feed the pixies:

This should be a hint to some science teachers, shouldn't it? Even I understood some of it ;-)
